Dames Collective Chapter: Detroit

Owner of AMAE MedSpa

1. What is the name of your business and can you tell us a little bit more about it?

When I started, the medspa was in serious need of some TLC. Clients were nonexistent and aside from a few products and a coolsculpting machine, there wasn't much to offer. Over time, I acquired the latest and greatest spa technologies and slowly built up our client base into what it is today. Currently, we offer an array of treatments and services meant to address a multitude of skincare and body concerns.

2. What has been your biggest win as an entrepreneur thus far?

My biggest win has been building Amae MedSpa into the successful business it is now. I worked so hard to not only build a loyal client base, but also to provide top-quality services to our clients. When I started, the MedSpa was nothing more than a tiny room with some products on a shelf in Bloomfield Hills, border Pontiac. Now, it's a thriving business that continues to grow on a daily basis. I went from having less than 10 clients per week to being booked four weeks out. It's been such an empowering experience to watch the business grow before my very eyes and I am so grateful to have been given the opportunity to take this project on.

3. Where do you find daily motivation and inspiration?

Sometimes it can be hard to give so much of yourself on a daily basis and not feel rundown. However, the thing that keeps me going are my clients. Watching them transform and seeing them achieve their best results motivates me. There's nothing better than a happy client!

4. What is the best piece of advice you have received and who was it from?

One of the best pieces of advice I've recently received came from one of my best friends. She told me to surround myself with women who will rejoice in my success rather than ones who will put me down for it. She told me that someone will always criticize me for what I do, no matter what I do. Rather than try to please everyone she told me to work hard and live my truth. These words have really resonated with me and have really inspired me.

5. What is your morning routine?

I like to start my mornings with lots of cuddles. My husband and I make it a priority to spend time with each other and our puppy every morning before work. We use this time to have our coffee together, read, chat, laugh, etc. It sets the mood for our entire day. Once hubby goes off to work, I jump into my skincare routine followed by some light makeup before leaving for work.

6. What is your favorite podcast?

To be honest, I just started listening to podcasts and I do not have a favorite yet.  I do check my instagram every morning for inspiration from some of my favorite influencers. Currently I enjoy Ed Mylett, Jonathan Seller and a few empowering women I’ve been following for awhile. They post some of the most amazing and motivational posts, it really helps me get into a positive mindset each and every day.

7. Something that most people wouldn’t know about you:

Believe it or not, before venturing out into aesthetics I was a professional opera singer and music teacher. I traveled around the world and had the opportunity to perform in so many amazing music halls. One of my favorite memories from that time was playing Musette in La Boheme and Gilda in Rigoletto. It was such a magical experience and I will cherish it forever.

8. If you could go back to when you started your company what would you say to yourself?

If I could go back and tell myself anything it would be "keep going, the hard work will pay off and the results will be worth the pain". There were times I wondered if all my hard work was even worth it. But now, being where I am, I can see that the hard work did pay off, it just took time to see it.
