The Importance of Surrounding Yourself with a Like-Minded Community

“Surround yourself with people who have dreams, desires, and ambition; they’ll help you push for, and realize your own.” - Anonymous

If you want to make a woman smile, talk to her about other women. Yes, it may seem odd but it's true. Talk to them about their closest girlfriends, their mother, sisters, daughters and mentors. Why do I say this? Because strong, confident women are excited when other women succeed. They are at their happiest when they can see those closest to them be successful. The truth is when those closest to us are successful, we are successful.

That is why it is essential to immerse yourself in a like-minded community. Your inner circle inspires you, creates opportunities to feel safe and motivates you to talk openly about your dreams and aspirations. They empower you to establish a deeper connection with yourself and to strive for greatness.

But what about the solo-prenuers, female leaders and innovators? Are they left to navigate their fields alone? Well they shouldn’t be! Studies have found that quality time with like-minded individuals powerfully influences your mindset, encourages you to achieve your goals and empowers you towards growth. The truth is that we become successful when we surround ourselves with other like-minded individuals. Therefore, it is advantageous for us to seek out other entrepreneurs as well. This is why women’s networking groups like Dames Collective work, as they force us to connect, collaborate and inspire one another.

If you aren’t completely sold on the idea of adding more strong women to your life, here’s some more information for you.

Learning Curve

How many of you have wasted a whole day trying to figure out how to use the newest version of Instagram? Or create a business plan? Market a pop-up shop? Imagine how much time you could have saved if you had someone else to ask about this.  Yes, entrepreneurship is all about trial and error but there is tremendous value in the amount of time and sanity that can be saved. Regardless of what is learned you will learn something and something is so much more than what you started with.

Keep your Momentum

There is nothing worse than having one setback after multiple wins. That one setback can cause us to retreat and question ourselves, and perhaps give up. But there is no greater motivation than talking to another entrepreneur who has been pushed straight out of their comfort zone and succeeded. They will encourage you and offer you poignant advice. And guess what, once that happens to you, you in return will want to help someone else do the same.

Consistent Inspiration

If you are looking to reignite your passion then surround yourself with people who are consistently inspired. They offer practical knowledge and a strong drive. Your mindset will improve and you will leave the conversation fired up and ready to take the next step. More importantly, listen to their stories; you may learn a thing or two.

__________

As with anything, there’s always a reason to say "well this just isn’t for me". You could say, “ I don’t have the time” or “Networking makes me uncomfortable”, but the value received from being surrounded by a like-minded community far exceeds any excuse that you may have. Believe me as I’ve used every excuse out there and I can tell you that there is no greater way to find success than surrounding yourself with other successful people. Now go out there and find your people.
